RADICAL LOVE
I had to spend quite some time mulling over this question, but then I
realised—they have given of “their” best, but in this season, our best
efforts no longer suffice.
We are in the days where the Holy Spirit is preparing a new wineskin,
and this wineskin will be full to overflowing with New Wine, which is
Christ Himself. It now has to be all of Him.
The Shulamite is a prototype of this. She is fully surrendered and
immersed in Him to such a degree of oneness that now, everything
within her is His. There is no longer any distinction. She no longer has
a personal claim on anything. So when she says in verse 12:
“But as for my own vineyard of love, I give it all to you…”
she is offering back to Him the totality of His abundance and life within
her.
Furthermore, in humility, she recognises the valuable role of those who
have helped and mentored her on her spiritual walk. It is so important
to honour those who have been put across our path by the Lord to
counsel and offer support during our journey of faith.
The Shulamite is quoted as giving double honour to those who have
been obedient in helping her reach maturity—and we must do likewise.
Scripture tells us that in the last days, He is going to give to the Ecclesia
shepherds (tenants of the vineyard) after His own heart:
