“Then in the final time I will give you spiritual shepherds after My own
heart, who will feed you with knowledge and true understanding.”
(Jeremiah 3:15, AMP)
These are the true shepherds of the sheep who have received the love
and equipping of Christ to the full. Jesus is so completely formed in
them that—like their Master—they go beyond what is humanly
considered to be the best, and are prepared, like He was, to lay their
lives down for their flock. (See John 10.)
The Shulamite Maiden is one such as this, and in verse 13 we see how
her nurturing and loving care towards the less mature brides-to-be is
now bearing fruit—and they are also hearing the love songs of the Lord
for themselves. It is as we hear our own personal, intimate song from
the Lord that we open up our hearts to Him and grow in faith.
Even the Shulamite is hungry to hear His love song over her again—
and the same applies to us. We need to hear our own personalised love
song from the Lord time and time again. It is the only way to become
established in the fullness of His love.
We must guard ourselves from complacency and spend time simply
resting in His presence and receiving the Lord’s love for us. This is
where we gain the strength required for what will be demanded of us
in the days ahead.
The last verse is the pinnacle of all her surrendered journeying with the
Bridegroom King. She is now ready to live a life totally immersed in
