the cross. We must make the time to sit silently in a posture of waiting
before Him until grace breaks in with a pleasure explosion of love
revelation that leaves us breathless, undone, and totally surrendered to
His will.
This love offends because it is outrageous and astounding, breaking
every boundary of justice. There is no justice in this kind of love—it
just gives and gives and offers itself wide open to abuse, rejection, and
disdain. And yet, it never fails. His love never fails.
Finally, in several other versions of the Bible, it mentions the location
of this vineyard: Baal Hamon, which can be translated as “lord of a
multitude”:
“…that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven,
and of those on earth, and of those under the earth, and that every
tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the
Father.” (Philippians 2:10–11, NKJV)
—Or, as “possessor of abundance”:
“…I am come that they might have life, and that they may have it more
abundantly.” (John 10:10, KJV)
The caretakers of the vineyard are those leaders within the church who
have surrendered their lives and given their best to exalt His name.
The question we need to ask ourselves is this: “If they have given their
best, why don’t they, like the Shulamite, have a vineyard of their own?”
