SESSION 20
This has to be the experience of every serious member of the Body of
Christ:
“Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God’s mercy,
to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God—
this is your true and proper worship.
Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the
renewing of your mind...” (Romans 12:1–2, NIV)
Moving on in the passage of text, the Shulamite Bride begins to speak
again, and this time she is referring to her present standing before her
Bridegroom King. The maiden has matured and made herself ready
(through surrender and obedience) to become a confident warrior bride
in Him, without spot or wrinkle. She herself is now a firm wall of
protection and defence for less mature believers in the Body—and it is
their relationship of love that has brought this about.
The same applies to us. We will only be prepared to lay our lives down
for Jesus and live out the role of the Bride of Christ to the degree we
are secure in who He is, captivated by His delight in each one of us,
and assured of His love and goodness.
This is the season of the Bride and the Bridegroom, where relationship
and simply being have to take priority over doing in our Christian walk.
Anything done for the Kingdom of God that does not emanate from the
overflow of His presence is a waste of time.
