was taught to every child in Spaceship Driver’s Education. “If
you try to come out of a spin using post-light speed you will rip
apart the fabric of the universe.” It was only a theory so far.
Nobody had been careless or desperate enough or drugged
and in pain enough to attempt it before. As it was, Gnurdleigh’s
proximity to the gravitational field of a large planet altered the
equation slightly. His spaceship did rip apart the universe.
There is now a dark spot on the surface of the large gas planet
called Jupiter where Gnurdleigh’s spaceship used to be. Now it
is a place that does and doesn’t exist simultaneously. As a
result, a shock-wave was sent back in time which caused the
first two particles to exist and not exist simultaneously. The
rest is history.
Ironically, moving the lush-green planet ever-so-slightly put it
into the path of a comet about half-a-million years later. This
did kill all of the monsters on the planet, just as Gnurdleigh
had wished. It also changed the climate so that it came to be a
perfect planet for growing barley. This gave rise to several
breweries, with the side effects including countless horrific
conflicts, debaucheries, frat parties and eventually establishing
the best planet for beer in the universe. Gnurdleigh had
inadvertently and indirectly created the universe and directly
created the great beer planet. Gnurdleigh and his autopilot,
however, were stuck in a single moment that changed only
ever-so-slowly. Looking out of the window, everything would
seem to move in super slo-mo for all eternity. They were
removed from normal time and would seemingly forever stay in
