Employees of the Month
Created by Mark Hondru for 2021, Team Member
Employee of the Month spotlights a HUB HDH
employee’s extra efforts, tenacity and positivity.
This monthly honor recognizes a team member for
doing a job well on a renewal, driving new business,
solving a problem on a claim or addressing a risk services issue.
“Really anything where a team member went above and beyond,”
Mark said.
Nomination forms are distributed to the producers and must be
returned to Amy Victor by the end of the month. Mark chooses the
monthly winner, which is announced during the sales meeting.
Winners receive a $50 gift card.
JULY
Wendy Garavuso (Cbus)
Nominated by Seth Allen, Wendy has been integral in overseeing
the account management team — in addition to managing a block
of business. She has continued to fulfill both roles flawlessly, as well
as being a point-person on the system’s transition that occurred this
summer. Congratulations, Wendy!
AUGUST
John Moore (Erie)
Nominated by Michael Vereb, John came to the rescue over Labor Day weekend for
Taylor Diversion Programs. As Michael explained, “At 3 a.m. (Saturday, Sept. 4), I received
a panicked email from Taylor Diversion Programs. Approximately 70% of Taylor’s oper-
ating income is from an Allegheny County contract for Youth Services. Their monthly
payment was not received on Friday due to Allegheny County not receiving a required
Certificate of Insurance. Needless to say, the owner was not happy and was stressing
about company finances. This is a new client and the phrase, ‘This never happened with
our previous broker’ was repeated a few times.”
By 7:30 AM, John had pulled several emails between the HUB team, Taylor and Allegheny County that the
owner was unaware. Within the emails was the Certificate of Insurance with correct verbiage. John took the
time to explain to the owner our processes and made him feel comfortable moving forward. (It turned out that
the error was indeed on Taylor Diversion Program’s end.) John followed up on Tuesday morning ensuring Allegh-
eny County had exactly what they needed to release the funds to Taylor Diversion.
Certificates of Insurance are not part of John’s job description. This could have sat around until Tuesday morn-
ing (Monday was Labor Day) and been handled it then. But John jumped into action and the owner was ex-
tremely appreciative. He did not expect it to be handled on a Saturday morning, but it helped him relax during
the holiday weekend. You rock, John!
