5G has been
one of the biggest buzzwords of 2019 so far. Everyone knows it’s coming, but people are wondering when, or perhaps what, 5G will mean for better, stronger cell signal.
To start, 5G provides a faster network with data speeds greater than 1 Gbps. A more responsive network with latency will further enable the Internet of Things (IOT), thanks to 5G’s ability to connect multiple smart devices, up to 1M devices per km2.
The telecommunications industry has been preparing for 5G for a while, with Verizon and AT&T already undergoing trials to get ready for a rollout starting in the next 2-3 years. However, other networks will not disappear with the advent of 5G - instead, 5G networks will be built alongside today’s 4G LTE network and function in parallel with it. 4G LTE networks will exist well
into 2030 since they will act as a fallback network when a user is not covered by the new 5G service. 4G LTE services will also remain as an important coverage solution
in less densely populated rural areas. This is an essential layer as 5G networks begin to densify in the coming years. To support 5G requirements, Verizon is laying 12 million miles of fiber.
With that in mind, it’s important to understand the impact of 5G as it permeates businesses, how cell carriers will roll the new network out, and the role cellular signal booster and amplifiers will play as 5G ramps up.
Nearly every industry, from retail and financial, to healthcare and manufacturing, will be impacted by the shift to 5G. Not only will 5G boost business functions by enabling them to do more, faster, but it will also make them more secure and more responsive to
