Headline: Edinburg auto theft investigation leads to guns, drugs and money
Last month, investigators in Texas thought they
had a simple auto theft on their hands. When the
stolen vehicle crashed during a police chase, the
investigators realized they had fallen into a rabbit hole.
During a search of the vehicle, “nearly 400
pounds of marijuana, a half-pound of cocaine, 26
weapons, including a .50 caliber Desert Eagle
handgun, and more than $125,000 in cash” was discovered inside.
Analysis
It is very rarely just an auto theft investigation, which is why it’s important to
stay vigilant and explore all possibilities when conducting an investigation. It’s the
time when you don’t think you need to check the trunk that there’s a body in it.

Headline: POLICE: The Bridges Targeted For Car Theft,
Burglaries
A wealthy community in Florida experienced several auto
thefts and burglaries in the past few days.
Analysis
What makes this case interesting is there is only one
entrance/exit point with roving security. This ‘guards’ are giving
residents a false sense of security which leads to citizens leaving
their keys in their car. To respond, Florida authorities established a public information
campaign with the acronym “WTF?!”, which – in this lone instance - stands for
“Where’s the Fob?”
