1. Premonitory stage: -
• Loss of consciousness
• Dilated pupils
• The eyes move from side to side
• Muscular twitches as in hand, tongue & face
This stage lasts about half a minute.
2. Tonic stage:-
• Severe muscles spasm all over the body.
• Respiratory muscles spasm -------> cyanosis.
• Swallowing muscles spasm -------> accumulation of saliva in
the mouth.
It lasts about half a minute.
3. Clonic stage :-
• Irregular and intermittent muscles contraction and relaxation.
• The tongue may be bitten.
• Involuntary passing of faces or urine.
4. Stage of coma :-
• A new fit starts during coma or after recovery of it.
• Increase muscular activity -----> increase temperature.
It lasts for minutes, hours or days.
