• Record fetal movement daily (decrease fetal movement may indicate
fetal hypoxia).
3. Nursing interventions:-
1. Ante partum intervention
Seizure management:-
This mother is in a high risk for injury due to musculoskeletal trauma or
aspiration if eclampsia develops.
Seizure precautions:
• Assess signs of eclampsia
• Prepare seizure precaution such as oxygen, suction, tongue blade
and bedside rails
• Provide quiet environment, limited light to decrease CNS
stimulation
• Limit visitors
• Administer magnesium sulfate
• Assess magnesium toxicity
• Have antidote of calcium gluconate at bedside
• Notify attending physician if needed
During the seizure:
• Assess patency of air way
• Facilitate insertion of air way
• Observe seizure activity, time of occurrence, length of seizure and
type of activity
