- Complications of pregnancy as abortion and vesicular mole.
- Irregular intake of hormones or contraceptive tablets.
- The presence of intrauterine device.
- Dysfunctional uterine bleeding as in metropathia hamorrhagica and
threshold bleeding.
Causes:
- The exact cause is unknown. The graafian follicle fails rupture and
continue to grow to form a cyst. Large amount of estrogen are produces
which act on the uterus.
Clinical picture
1- Age incidence: more common near the menopause or after menarche.
2- Symptoms
There is sever painless uterine bleeding unrelated to menstruation. It may
continue for several days or weeks. Symptoms of anemia, if bleeding is
sever.
3- Signs
The uterus is slightly symmetrically enlarged abdominally soft. One or
both ovaries may be felt enlarged and cystic.
Treatment
1- General treatment as menorrhagia.
2- Hormonal treatment as menorrhagia.
3- Surgical treatment as menorrhagia.
