Superhero McNichols Been at BPS since 1963
Imagine loving a place so much you spend nearly all your time there for more than 41 years. This month’s BPS/Sprint superhero, Sharon McNichols, has done just that with BPS. She began first grade at Cambridge Elementary in 1963. After she graduated from the vocational education program at Cocoa High in 1975, she began working as the school secretary at what was then called Roosevelt Middle. She has worked in various buildings around the district and is currently
the administrative assistant to the assistant superintendent for elementary leading and learning, Jane Cline.
Cline loves McNichols’ passion for the job and especially for people who call on the phone. “She puts every moment of her energy into helping solve the problems. She remains the support necessary for whoever is on that phone. She’s the best listener on the planet. She stays calm regardless of the situation,” Cline said. “That is the gift we have in Sharon McNichols.”
McNichols knows much of BPS’ history. She
had the pleasure of working for Ralph Williams who was an assistant superintendent when Abe Collingsworth was superintendent of schools, the year ESF opened. She said a school was named
