Book Room Move: The book room at Rich South had to be moved for the new culinary center
construction. The custodial team and the Building Foreperson worked tirelessly for five straight
days in order to box up and move all the items out of the book room. They did a great job and their
dedication to getting that done in such a short window is commendable.
The maintenance teams at both Rich South and Rich Central are actively removing and boxing up
items form the wall all around the schools in preparation for painting and rebranding. Everything
will be labeled, stored, and secured. These items will be kept for future memorialization displays in
the schools.
The Rich Central tile project, Bid # 19-005, is currently under way and estimated to be complete by
Tuesday May 5th. This project consists of removing hallway carpet on the second floor, replacing
with VCT tile, and replacing the base cove on the walls.
The custodial teams are also starting their summer cleaning projects. The current focus is
bathrooms and other non-classroom spaces. They will move on to classrooms once teacher items
have been packed.
We have purchased and staged moving boxes for student locker clean outs and teacher classroom
cleanouts. Each student locker will be cleared out by a building administrative designee after which
time our B&G staff will collect the boxes and move to a central location for distribution to the
students. In addition, B&G will issue out boxes to every classroom so teachers can come in at
designated times and pack up their belongings. The B&G teams will be moving boxes to their new
locations based on colored labels indicating the new campus and/or room the teacher is moving to.
Updates
The custodial teams continue to clean and disinfect behind people who come in the buildings. We
have asked for advanced notice of when people will arrive and where they will be in the buildings
so we can follow behind them.
Each campus has been given reusable facemasks to be handed out if a staff member does not have
one of their own already. We are asking all staff that comes in the buildings to wear their masks at
all times, specifically when social distancing may not be possible. This will include teachers when
they clean out their classrooms. We have 150 reusable masks ready for teachers and staff with
another 500 on order. We also have a few hundred disposable masks if needed
The Buildings and Grounds team continues to conduct deep cleanings of all district buildings and
technology, which follow the guidance of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
The two-step process for cleaning and disinfecting includes wiping and cleaning all surfaces and the
