HUMAN RESOURCES
Personnel Staffing/Restructure
The District has completed the staffing for the 2021 school term. Currently, the District is
recommending non-renewing four teachers, and recommending 16 teachers as part of the reduction
in force. Currently, the district has three vacancies, which include (2) CTE and (1) Science. The
total number of teachers impacted by the consolidation is currently 17. If enrollment in courses
increase, teachers may be called back from the reduction in force list if enrollment increases in that
area. The District also has four teachers who are retiring. The consolidation will allow students to
take additional courses and creates an opportunity for the district to utilize staff more effectively to
meet the needs of students.
Investigations
The District has received one formal complaint against an administrator. A guardian alleged that her
student was choked by an administrator. A meeting was facilitated with the grandparents
/guardians, the video tape was reviewed and there was no evidence to substantiate an allegation of
abuse of power. A teacher allegedly locked a student in a classroom until he apologized. The
building administration conducted an investigation, and the allegations were substantiated. The
teacher was given a verbal warning. The Board's legal counsel will provide the board with an
update regarding the administrators who have been placed on a paid administrative leave of
absence.
Job Fairs
The District will host the superintendent's commission job fair at Rich South High School on March
28, 2020. The job fair is designed to recruit hard to fill positions and provides an opportunity for
elementary and high school districts to recruit during the prime hiring season. Although 227 will
have a reduction in force, several positions due to specialized certifications will be open for the next
school term.
Policy Update
Press Plus has released policy issue 102. The District will review the new policies through the
committee of the whole. Policies that do not have substantive changes do not require a first and
second reading The District is working toward utilizing these policies to create an administrative
procedures manual. The District anticipates completion of the manual by the end of the school year
and will provide an in-service for all administrators.
