❖ The reason for starting this school was that at that time, a person or a group of
people came together to start a school and if they were engaged in teaching
voluntarily, the teachers who were engaged in the teaching activities were
given a permanent appointment by the government and given the position of a

permanent employee who receives government salary. Mr. Lewis
Thawalawatta, who took the initiative to start this school, has two daughters.
The involvement of those two daughters in these teaching activities may have
been the reason for this. The absence of a school for the children of the area to
