Vidyalaya. A special incident happened during his service. That was to build a
library for that school, which was in great need. This was a library with a

building measuring 80×20. Provisions for this have been received from the
government. At the same time, the number of students has grown to 410. This
R. M. T. B. Principal Ratnayake retired from service on the 01 of July 1988.

❖ After his retirement, Mr. W. M. B. Karunathissa was the new principal of the

school. M. B. Mr. Karunatissa assumed office on 15 October 1988. The

special event that happened during his service was that the school got a two-
storied building. This two-story building is during the service of President R.
Premedasa, a building was received on the recommendation of the "Youth
Committee". This building was opened under the patronage of Mr. Ranil

Wickramasinghe. The Principal retired from the position of Principal in 1998.

❖ Then Mrs. D. J. A. M . Weerasekera became the new Principal of the school
in 1998. Due to her skill, the school got an allocation for a three-storied
building from the government. Only the first floor was built during the tenure

of the principal. The principal D.J.A.M Weerasekera transferred from this
school to another school in 2003.

❖ From 2010 through 2015, the primary education activities of the college have
been stopped.

❖ Then again on 14.01.2016 primary education activities started as a separate
school in Mahamaya Shalawa.

❖ It is called Rahula Primary School.

❖ At the beginning of Primary school;

❖ Number of students = 30

❖ Principle - Waddagala Sominda thero

❖ First teacher’s name - M.H. Kusumawathi

❖ Sominda Thero holds the current position of principal.

❖ At present, its administrative activities are carried out in two phases and the
oldest hall of the college is the Mahamayashala which is in the current primary
school and was also used as an office in the early days.
