Thawalawatta may have started this school based on these two facts.
❖ U. A. Jayasinghe was a resident of the land where the school is currently
located. it. A donation was made by Mr. Jayasinghe in 1958. The area of the
land is 2 acres 86. Then a primary building measuring 60x20 was constructed
with the help of the government. After this was opened on September 9, 1959,
classes have been held in this building since then. Here the school was named
Lellopitiya Vidyalaya. It is the opinion of many who know the school history
that the names of this area may have been applied to the 3rd school, from
09.09.1959 this school became a government-aided government school. In
the early stages of this period, Mr. Lewis Thawalawatta took the initiative and
maintained the school and the period that was maintained was very long. The
government has appointed a new Principal to Lellopitiya College. If he is Mr.
U.A. Dharmasiri. He is known as the founding principal of the school. 6
government teachers have worked in this school. Classes are held from 1st
grade to 5th grade. The period and timings of the classes were the same as in
the current school pattern. That is from 7.30 am to 1.30 pm. In 1960, the

increased to 120. Then the name of the school was R/Sri Rahul Vidyalaya.
