2.1.3 Important Events
❖ In 1951 started as a private school.
❖ The name of the school was Akuru Shalawa.
❖ After the name has been changed to "Jubili Vidyalaya".
❖ In 1958, the school was moved to a new building, on land donated by Mr.
U.A. Jayasinghe.
❖ On the 09th of September 1959 school became a government school.
❖ In 1960 the school name was changed to R /Sri Rahula Vidyalaya.
❖ In 1961 there were 180 students.
❖ In 1970, many students have passed the scholarship examination in
grade 5.
❖ In 1983, a library was built for the school.
❖ In 1988, the school got a two-storied building.
❖ In 1998, the Ministry of Education provided 3 store buildings.
