They humiliated the People of Israel and gave them hard time for more
than seven years. The People of Israel had to flee to the mountains to

hide from the Midianites. They cried out to God to save. The Lord had
compassion on them and heard their cry and called Gideon to save His

people from the Midianites.

Pino: The Lord called Gideon while he was threshing wheat in the wine-

press, for he was hiding from the Midianites and said:
