went and got a goat and some unleav-

ened bread. God told him to put them
on a rock and He touched them with

his rod which was in His hand and fire
came out of the rock and devoured

the offerings.
That confirmed to Gideon that it was

God that was speaking with him. Gideon
built an altar to God in that same spot.

Then God asked Gideon to destroy the altar of Baal which was in his
father’s house and build instead of it an altar to God and offers a sacrifice

to God on it. And Gideon did exactly what God told him to do.
