        whose title alludes to the immaterial location where the inner elixir is refined.

        Court), on the *Huangtingjing.
          12. Jindan sibai zi jie iiZ ft [9 E:f '¥ Nt (Explication of the Four Hundred Words
        on the Golden Elixir; 1807; traos. Cleary 1986a, 1-48), on the *Jindan sibai zi, with
        additional poems by Liu Yiming.
          "Twelve Books on the Dao" was an alternative title of the Zhinan zhen. The
        collection retained that title when it was expanded into the present Daoshu
        shi'er zhong with the addition of the following seven texts:
          13· Zhouyi chanzhen Jj',J  ~ /Vl ~ (Uncovering the Reality of the Changes of the
        Zhou; 1798; traos. Cleary 1986b), a commentary to the *Yijing.
          14· Xiangyan poyi ~ ~f fiE!. ~k (Smashing Doubts on Symbolic Language; 181I;
        traos. Cleary 1986a, 51-1I8), centered on a set of diagrams that describe the
        unfolding of the Dao into the cosmos and the return to the Dao.
          15·  Tongguan  wen  @ MM  'X.  (Crossing the Passes),  on obstacles that adepts
        face in their practice.
          16. Cantong zhizhi ~ /i'iJ 11: t~ (Straightforward Directions on the Agreement
        of the Three; 1799), a commentary to the *Guwen Zhouyi cantong qi.
          17· Wuzhen zhizhi 't~ A ~ t~ (Straightforward Directions on the Wuzhen pian;
        1794;  traos. Cleary 1987), a commentary to the *Wuzhen pian (see Miyakawa
        Hisayuki 1954).
          18.  Wudao  lu  ,mili:i51:  (Account of an Awakening to the Dao; 18w; traos.
        Cleary 1988), composed of jottings on neidan and other subjects.
