Abstract The research title is Optimization Study in Performance Evaluation of Rotary MR
Damper for Automotive Suspension. In general, the suspension system is one of the most
important and basic systems in vehicle. Basically, the major purpose of any vehicle suspension
system is to maximize the friction between the road surface and the tires to provide the stability
steering and good handling of the vehicle. Besides, damper is one of the component that located
in suspension system. The basic function of damper is to slow down the spring action of the
shelf. Damper are fix in coefficient. Thus, limit the usage into certain road condition.
Expanding the capability of damper to absorb a vibration with wide spectrum of frequency, an
active damper need to be design. In this research, the focused was on the rotary magneto-
rheological damper. Magneto-rheological damper is a damper that filled with magneto-
rheological fluid, which is controlled by magnetic field. The experimental setup for the rotary
MR damper was proposed in this paper.
