The Study of Smart Home Security
Using Facial Recognition and Motion
Detection Sensor

Abstract Home security systems have recently grown in popularity as homeowners seek
methods to ensure the safety of their private space while also increasing the value of their home.
Previously, home security systems meant having an alarm that would sound if someone broke
in, but smart home security can do much more. Therefore, the main objective of this project is
to develop a low-cost Arduino-based security system using a motion detection sensor and
password security system for the authorized user. In addition, the security system is integrated
with ESP32 – CAM modules with an inbuilt algorithm for Face Detection and Face
Recognition. Meanwhile, motion detection is using a PIR sensor and an Ultrasonic sensor. This
security system operates using internet communication. Furthermore, the system
communicates using Telegram Bot to notify or send messages to the homeowner. Moreover,
the homeowner can monitor or control the system thru the built-in real-time video web server
interface of the ESP32 – CAM.
