Abstract Air pollution occurs when harmful or excessive quantities of substances are
introduced into earth's atmosphere. Human activity is a major cause of air pollution, especially
in large cities. The man-made pollution is caused by things such as factories, power plants,
cars, and airplanes. These human-made sources of pollution are known as anthropogenic
sources. It may cause diseases, allergies and even death to all living creatures. Air pollution is
divided in two categories, which is outdoor pollution and indoor pollution. Many research has
been conducted to solve this problem. Therefore, a system to detect and control the air quality
has been developed. This paper proposed a carbon dioxide monitoring system that can detect
and control CO2 gas inside a building. Previous research had been reviewed to help in the
development of this system. This system consists of three main parts, which is the input unit,
microcontroller, and output unit. The input of the system are the sensors. The gas sensor MQ-
135 will be used to sense CO2 and DHT11 sensor use to monitor temperature and humidity. In
this system, Arduino Mega will act as microcontroller and the output unit consists of LCD,
LED, buzzer and DC fan. The purpose of this project is to analyses the sensors performance
by placing the sensors inside a prototype. Data will collect and send to the Microsoft excel.
