Abstract This paper intent to enhance the project that was done by previous students that is a
Vehicle to Vehicle (V2V) Communication. A V2V communication uses visible light to
transmit data. A model was done by previous project but it had a lot of problems. The receiver
can only received single string of data from transmitter and signals can reach only to maximum
of 30 cm distance. The project also cannot detect distance between the transmitter and receiver.
A few method has been proposed in this paper to overcome the problems. This project aimed
to transmit multiple string of data and transmit signal over 30 cm with additional distance
detection. The method used in this project were first using an On-Off Keying(OOK) with start
and stop bit to transfer the data smoothly. To stabilize the Light Emitting Diode(LED) that use
as transmitter, a constant current LED driver was used. To enhance the distance, this project
used 12V LED rather than using 5V LED from previous project. Connect with the receiver was
a Trans-impedance amplifier to amplify the weak signals and as the receiver this project used
two sensor, one for string signals receiver, another for distance detection combining with
simple formula. The result that obtained was satisfactory. This project successfully had a
multiple string signal and display multiple string characters but only until 30 cm. The amplifier
also amplify noise signal so the the noise disturb the actual because noise signal is higher the
further the signals. The project still carried on to compare response time. The final result of the
project is that, this project method increase total overall response time of 19.24% and distance
increased by 50%. For distance detection, the data can go up to 50 cm. The accuracy of the
white LED is higher and its response time is faster than red LED. The downside of this project
was that recalibration done quite a lot of time to get accurate results. The testing area needed
to be in a black room with no light whatsoever. A noise filter is needed in future projects.
