FACTOR IN EVALUATION
Evaluation is a big part of any
program, and fundraising is no
exception, here. Your funders and
donors like results, and in many
cases, they’ll require them.
Have a plan. Know what success
looks like for any endeavor you take
on. What are you going to measure?
How will you know if you’ve met your
goal? If you serve one hundred young
people in your program this year, is
that a marker of success? What
about the number of meals served?
Participant questionnaires and feedback forms are valuable, too. Don’t
forget to regularly check in with the community you serve to make sure
your goals remain aligned with their needs.
Often, funders will require some kind of proof of concept before they’ll be
willing to grant you money. Consider partnering with another community
group, school or university, or faith or civic group to pilot a scaled-down
version of an event or program so you can show results without
undertaking the full expense.
