The hawker centre I went to with my family is Bedok
Corner. As its name suggests, it is located somewhere
in Bedok. It is a very famous area in Singapore, and as
a result, it is always crowded and bustling with people
from all walks of life. It is really ancient, and I believe it
was opened in the late 80s or early 90s. The place has
been upgraded quite a few times. Many birds are flying
around, knowing there will always be tasty leftovers to
nibble on. There are cats, too, waiting for leftovers to
munch on.
What I like about the hawker centre is that it has a wide
selection of food. I believe there are over a hundred
varieties of food items for anyone to choose from. My
personal favourite is the carrot cake! It is from a chinese
halal stall. That makes it even more wonderful, as many
hawker centres around Singapore sell carrot cake, but
it is not usually from a halal stall. Hence, I would not be
able to eat it. But over here, in Bedok Corner, it is halal! “At Bedok Corner, I found my favourite halal
carrot cake — sweet, spicy, and full of tradition
The food is not only delicious, but it is also relatively that brings everyone to the table.”
affordable. For a massive plate of carrot cake, I pay
around five dollars. There are two types of carrot cake,
white and black. I prefer the black one and always get Mohammad Firas Bin Mohammad
it as it tastes sweet. It is also quite squishy and chewy. Faizul Shahrain
A really spicy chilli sauce accompanies it. My parents P5.6
prefer the white one, and they would request an extra North Spring Primary School
egg to make it even tastier.
To accompany our carrot cake, we usually get a drink
called mango lassi. It is basically a mango-flavoured
drink with vanilla essence in yoghurt.
I love all my visits to Bedok Corner!
