I smelled the delicious aroma of my favourite food—
chicken rice—as I stepped into the hawker centre. I went
to this hawker centre, named Kopitiam Square, with my
            father.

The hawker centre was filled with elderly patrons and
many food stalls. My father and I had to walk around to
find a halal-certified stall, as there were many Chinese
stalls. When we finally found two halal stalls, we bought
            our meals from them.

My family ordered from a kebab stall named Singapore’s
Muslim Food. The hawker at the stall sold cheesy kebab,
spicy kebab, barbeque kebab, and even chicken kebab.
I bought my food from a chicken rice stall called Fitra
Chicken Rice. After I had ordered a plate of roasted
chicken rice, the order was ready instantly! I could not
believe how quick the hawkers were!
Lane, opposite Compass One. I recommend that
However, I did not eat at the hawker centre. Instead, everyone in Singapore go and eat there.
I ate at home as the hawker centre was packed like
sardines. I took photos of the stalls and a hawker to As the saying goes, “Hawkers are our unsung heroes.” I
show my appreciation. Then, I headed home to enjoy will always buy food from a hawker centre whenever I
my scrumptious meal. The chicken was juicy and tender, do not know what to eat.
and the rice was simply out of this world!

As I bit into the chicken, the juice burst into my mouth! “One bite of chicken rice and I knew — hawkers
The skin of the chicken was perfectly roasted. The are our everyday heroes, serving comfort,

whenever I am hungry and have no idea what to eat. culture, and joy with every plate.”

Luckily, the hawker centre was just a kilometre away
from my house. If not, I would have starved until the next Muhammad Shaqyl Bin Suffian
