The smell of smoke and food filled the air I was breathing.
I was exploring a local hawker centre located at Geylang
Serai Market, and my mother, older brother, and younger
sister accompanied me. On our way to our favourite stall
named Nasi Ayam Sambal, I was thinking about what I
should eat when my family arrived at the stall. Thoughts
of food made me even hungrier as I pondered what to
            order.

            “We have arrived,” said Mother.

I quickly sprinted towards an empty table. I hurriedly
dragged the chair out and sat on it. Not many people
were at the stall area, though. But the smell of the
place had a rich aroma of cooked rice. My mother asked
me what I wanted to order. I was spoiled for choice.
Thoughts raced through my mind as I tried to decide. Of
course, I had to order their delicious chicken rice, along Next was my drink. It was filled with lots of ice cubes and
with a drink called bandung. My mother went up to the came with a straw. I took a sip - it was refreshing.

After that, we went home. I hope we can head to Geylang
Not long after my mother returned to her seat, I started Serai Market again soon.
to feel bored. Filled with boredom, I took a long peek at
the stall that was preparing our food. I saw one of the
workers scooping steaming heaps of fragrant rice. That
sight made me hungrier. Not long after, our food arrived. “At Geylang Serai Market, one spoonful of
“Wow, this looks delicious!” said my sister, with hunger
in her eyes. chicken rice told me everything — that hawker
food is comfort, culture, and love on a plate.”
When I saw my plate of chicken rice, my mouth started
to water. The chicken was generously coated with
bbq sauce. The sauce was dripping onto the steaming Shireen Binte Faisal
hot rice, and the chicken looked juicy and tender. The P6.1

delicious. But what really mattered was the taste. After
one spoonful, I was amazed. It was absolutely delicious.
I gobbled up my chicken rice quickly.
