St. Gallen Symposium 2020
The 50th St. Gallen Symposium virtual event was held
on 7 and 8 May 2020. H.E. Karin Keller-Sutter, Federal
Councillor and Head of the Department of Justice and
Police, opened the virtual Opening Session. The NYAA
Singapore helped facilitate the event by inviting our
Deputy Prime Minister and Coordinating Minister for
Economic Affairs and Minister for Finance, Mr Heng
Swee Keat, as the Guest-of-Honour for the virtual
Closing Session on 8 May 2020. DPM shared with
a global audience how Singapore coped with the
COVID-19 pandemic. In addition, DPM shared how
countries, companies and communities are working
together in the battle against COVID-19. While the
pandemic will pass at some point, the many other
global challenges confronting us, such as climate
change and economic inequality, will not. There are no
easy answers. But there is no better time for dialogue
and action within our societies, across ages, across
borders. Post-COVID, we can build a shared future Deputy Prime Minister and Coordinating Minister for
together. DPM Heng's message was well-received, and Economic Policies and Minister for Finance.
St. Gallen was grateful for his message in uplifting the
spirit during these trying times.

“My experience with NYAA has internalised
the value of exercising a mature and balanced
judgment between my profession and
contributions to society. It has also, in essence,
underscored the importance of demonstrating
a global mindset whilst keeping my feet on the
ground in utilising that international experience
further to augment my contributions toward
youth leadership development in Singapore.”
