Virtual Seminar On What’s The Fuss With E-Waste

Members of the NYAA Gold Award Holders’ Alumni
(GAHA) remain active despite the COVID-19 to raise
awareness on climate change mitigation as we move
towards a fast-paced, digitalised world due to the
pandemic. Current statistics show that each person
in Singapore generates about 11 kg of electronic
waste each year. How can people in Singapore best
manage their electronic waste? What are the ways
to maximise the benefit of e-waste management
            while reducing negative environmental impact?

NYAA GAHA invited students to converse with
industry experts work to publish a guide about
e-waste management for schools and non-
governmental organisations. As a result, more than
160 youth leaders and grassroots leaders attended Mr Calvin Tan
the E-Waste Webinar. They were keen to help their NYAA Gold Award holder (2012 Cohort)
            residents understand what e-waste means.

Mr Calvin Tan conducted the E-Waste Webinar, a
former senior official with the National Environment
Agency and an NYAA Gold Award holder (2012
Cohort) and a Member of the GAHA Exco and
Environment Committee lead. Invited Speakers are
Mr Chia Boon Chong, Director, SingTel Sustainability
Group and Mr Nathanael Sim, Executive Engineer,
            Waste & Resources Management, National
            Environment Agency.
