Student’s Reflection

Throughout this project, I gained a deep understanding of the far-reaching impacts
of global climate change, including the rapid melting of ice caps and the consequent
rise in sea levels. This realization highlighted the urgent need for change, as these
effects not only disrupt wildlife but also pose significant threats to vulnerable regions
like Singapore and numerous low-lying islands and countries. Engaging with SPEQS
provided me with valuable insights into their approach to addressing climate change,
which includes initiatives such as reducing water consumption and recycling materials
like metal. Moreover, I had the opportunity to develop new skills such as coding in
Python and conducting data collection, broadening my knowledge and expertise.

Upon reflection, I recognise that there were numerous other avenues to explore within
the project. Despite facing considerable challenges, the team aims to reduce water and
coolant consumption. While the immediate impact of our efforts may seem limited, I
believe our research could prove beneficial to others facing similar challenges in the
Valerie Tan future. Furthermore, this project has heightened my awareness of environmental issues
Team Leader and inspired me to adopt a more eco-friendly lifestyle. I am now more conscious of
reducing my carbon footprint in my daily activities, contributing to the collective efforts
                                          to combat climate change.
