Through this sustainability project, I’ve discovered numerous strategies for companies to reduce their
carbon footprint and lower expenses, even within the context of a human resource company that is
moving towards sustainability without the need to create or design a product. I am immensely grateful
to Elitez Pte Ltd and Mr. Andy Lim Wen Jie, Elitez’s Head of Environmental and Sustainability, for their
invaluable assistance throughout this journey.
Our challenges included calculating carbon emissions and brainstorming cost-saving ideas aligned with
Elitez’s future sustainability plans, particularly because we were unable to develop tangible products
and had to base our suggestions on other factors.This experience has provided me with a deeper
understanding of sustainability and its significance. It has also sparked an interest in sustainability as a
potential career path, as I previously had not encountered the concept of a sustainability department.
Overall, this project has been a valuable learning opportunity, allowing me to gain insights into
sustainability practices and their application in real-world settings.

Completing this project has significantly broadened my understanding of sustainability and ways to
enhance Elitez’s operational processes. I feel privileged to have collaborated with my teammates at
Elitez in addressing sustainability challenges. I am also grateful to our lecturers and experts for their
guidance in devising viable solutions.
I was particularly intrigued when my team and I discovered and analyzed Elitez’s significant consumption
of electricity and water within its premises. Elitez’s sustainable practices, such as utilising solar panels for
renewable energy, establishing an aquarium corner, distributing a green booklet on sustainability, and
monitoring carbon emissions through the Global Compact Network Singapore website, left a lasting
impression on me. I am pleased to have contributed to the calculation of carbon emissions and assisted
the company and my team in forecasting electricity and water consumption post-implementation of
our solutions. The adoption of water aerators, Renewable Energy Certificates (RECs), and solar panels
are tangible measures that not only improve Elitez’s branding but also demonstrate its commitment to
sustainability.

Reflecting on this journey, I am confident that the knowledge and experience gained will not only
benefit me in contributing to Singapore’s success but also enable me to advocate for the importance of
sustainability among my peers in the future.
