 Mast climbing platforms - Mast climbing work platforms are hoists with a working

platform that is us ed to raise personnel and material to a temporary working
position.
 Work boxes - A work box is personnel carrying device designed to be suspended

from a crane for the purpose of providing a working area for persons elevated by
and working from the box.

 Purlin Trolleys - Purlin trolleys travel on top of purlins (horizontal beams running
along the length of a roof) and can be used to support material and roof workers.
They may be used during installation or removal of roof coverings.

Perimeter Protection
 Perimeter screens - Perimeter screens that are purpose -designed for a building
provide a high level of protection in preventing construction workers and any debris,
tools or building material from falling from the building.

 Perimeter guardrails - Guardrails may be used to provide effective fall prevention
at:

o The edges of roofs and roof framing
o The edges of scaffolds
o The edges of work platforms, suspended slabs, formwork and false work,
walkways, stairways, ramps and landings

o The perimeters of buildings and other structures
o The perimeters of skylights and other fragile roof material > openings in
floor and roof structures, and
o The edges of shafts, pits, and other excavations.

 Barriers to restrict access - Barriers should be used to cordon -off elevated areas
including roofs and balconies where edge protection is not provided, and people are
not permitted to access.

 Safety mesh - Safety mesh is designed to prevent internal falls through a roof, which
is one of the most common fall problems in the industry.

 Work positioning system - A work positioning system is equipment that enables a
person to be positioned and safely supported at a work location for the duration of
the task being undertaken at height.

 Travel restraint systems - A travel restraint system prevents the user from
approaching an unprotected edge on a building or structure.
