4.0        Contracted Maintenance



        Where vehicle maintenance is contracted to a third party, either in part (e.g. air conditioning units) or for the
        entire vehicle, Group Companies must ensure there is a robust, periodic, assessment of vehicle service
        standards, by contract staff, and that the requirements of this Global Standard are upheld.

        Note that where Group Companies contract their maintenance this does not exempt any Group Company
        from the requirements of this Global Standard or any content therein. Third party processes and paperwork
        may be used but must comply with the requirements of this Global Standard.



        5.0        Facilities, Tools & Equipment




        Wherever possible, Group Companies should ensure that there are adequate facilities to ensure a full and
        comprehensive vehicle service can be undertaken, this must include but is not limited to:

            Adequate lighting
            Adequate under vehicle inspection facilities (pit or vehicle lifts)
            A safe working environment
             Appropriate Measurement and checking tools and facilities
            Access to facilities to store, dispense and drain fluids safely and without harm to the environment or risk
            of cross contamination.
         All relevant safety equipment.

        Note that provision may be interpreted as ‘access to’ in instances where internal facilities are not available
        or limited in space and use.

        Where possible, and available, Group Companies should provide those who are responsible for discharging
        vehicles service with adequate tools and equipment, for example tyre tread depth indicators, torches and
        micrometers.

        Group Companies must ensure that there is a robust process for calibration of tools where required,
        including a policy on quarantine of tools that are found to be outside of calibration tolerances.

        All Group Companies have a duty of care to respect and protect the local environment from harm.This will
        include adequate facilities to store, dispense and dispose of harmful fluids and contaminated parts, for
        example oil and filters.



        6.0        Oils & Lubricants




        It is recommended that OEM oil is used on all occasions. Where it is deemed more beneficial to utilise non
        OEM oils and lubricants, all and any alternatives need to be thoroughly and rigorously assessed technically
        and usage signed off by the Engineering Director (or equivalent) and where possible the manufacturer.

        Where alternative oils and lubricants are being considered refer to Global Standard 4 ‘Parts Management
        (Including Safety Critical Parts)’
