My Spooktacular Halloween

Rishita Aditya, Grade 4

Is your favorite holiday Halloween? Well,my favorite holiday is Halloween. Let me tell about my 3rd
grade Halloween party and trick or treat !
Halloween is such an exciting, spooky and fun holiday. People carve pumpkins into Jack-O-lanterns.
Every year it comes the last day of October, that’s October 31st.
This year also we had a classroom party at school, we all dressed for the Halloween party! Everyone
was so excited. I was wearing costume of Tawlya costume from Monster high. Our teacher organized
many fun games for us. Also we had some yummy snacks with our friend. I enjoyed my Halloween
school party with my friends a lot.
Finally that Halloween night came. I was very excited to trick or treating with my friends in my
neighborhood. I asked my mom “Can we go for trick or treat?’’ My mom said, “Yes but make sure you
come back soon.’’ “YAY!” I screamed. My friends and I went for trick or treating, and our basket were
overflowing with candies. Finally we reached to the last house in our neighborhood, it looked like a
haunted house to me, but we knocked on the door and said, “trick or treat.’ Suddenly we saw a black
cat crossing the street. I was counting my candy and suddenly we heard a strange noise from inside.
Then an old woman came out gave candy and shut the door. She did not even say “ Happy Halloween.’’
Suddenly angry sky roared and threw lightning around. We all were little frightened so after getting our
candy we came back home. That was really a spooky stormy Halloween night I ever had.
Still I am eagerly waiting for my next Halloween to have more fun with friends and may be to
experience something spooky :).

Decorating the Family Christmas Tree

Pranita Aditya, Grade 4

Have you ever loved making a Christmas tree? Well this is my story of
me, my dad, and my sister putting up our tree. “Dad is it time to build the
Christmas tree?’’ I said.” I was worried my dad was going to say no. It was
so close to Christmas and I really wanted to build the Christmas tree.
“Yes” said my dad.
Finally! I thought to myself. Yes!
“I got the ornaments!” said my mom.

First my dad built it step by step. I was so excited a smile spread across my face. ” YAY” I shouted with
joy. The tree was so tall it almost touched the ceiling. The tree’s light was sparkling in my eyes.
“Ok. It is time to spread the leaves. Spread the leaves nicely please.” said my dad. My dad, Rishita, and I
worked hard to make the branches look nice. Eventually we finished spreading it out.
Now it was time to put the ornaments on. So we put all the old ornaments on the tree first and then
strung the new ornaments on. I couldn't wait to put the new ornaments on the tree. The glitter on
them made me think of the stars in the nighttime sky.
“Are we done yet?” I said.
“Almost “said my dad.
I was super excited about Christmas, and the tree made me even more excited. My heart was pumping
so hard I couldn't wait! After we finished the tree, we put a cute Santa under the Christmas tree, along
with a Santa’s workshop decoration that lights up to colors. When we finished, we tried the Christmas
tree out. “Perfect” I said.
Then my dad noticed a spot where the leaves were not spread out enough. Well we started to spread
the branches a little more to fill in the bare spot. Finally we finished.
“Now it looks way better,” said my dad.”
Setting up the Christmas tree was great! I can’t wait to do it again next year!
