In 1988 John MacArthur wrote a book

titled The Gospel According to Jesus in

opposition to the other side, and that book

actually inflamed this debate all over again,

and I see the debate more so among

Independent Baptists than I do anywhere

else. Now, obviously, on one side or the

other there is a false gospel — there really

is — so we've got to make up our mind

according to Scripture which is the false

gospel. And in both of these circles there's

a variation of beliefs.

Let me do this very quickly on this

subject of repentance. This is the core issue

in this debate, so we must at least say a few
