troubled, neither by spirit nor by word nor by
letter as from us.” He's saying, "Now, we've not
written a letter in reference to this,” and he
said, “Be not troubled as that the day of Christ
is at hand,” but, he says in verses 3 and 4, “Let
no man deceive you by any means: for that
day”— that is, the day of Christ—“shall not
come except there come a falling away first” —
that is, apostasy, a forsaking of the truth —
“and that man of sin be revealed, the son of

perdition; Who opposeth and exalteth himself
above all that is called God, or that is
worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the
temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.”
And we read in verse 7, “the mystery of
iniquity.” That is the exact opposite of the
mystery of godliness that we'll read about in a
few moments. He says here in verse 7, "For the
