minded. We misrepresent Christianity
when we promote the Christian life as
a life of silliness and fun.
When Philip invited Nathanael to
come and see Jesus in John 1:45-46, he
did not invite him to come and “have
fun.” Those who followed Jesus in
Bible times were perfectly satisfied
just to be in His presence and listen to
Him speak because, as Peter
acknowledged in John 6:68, Jesus
spoke words that related to eternal life
— and that was exciting enough for the
disciples!
And is it any wonder that those who
grow up in a “fun-filled” church are not
