Ephesians 5:3 & 4 lists some behavior

that should not be once named among

those who become saints, and foolish

talking and jesting are in that list.

Christians are supposed to be conformed

to the image of Christ (Rom. 8:29), and

surely Jesus was never silly — at any

age. Silliness is not only unChristlike,

but it’s also an insult and demeaning

to young people to resort to silliness or

silly skits in order to attract them to

the things of God. And often when

these children grow up, they look back

at their involvement in youth activities,

and many times they resent being
