abandonment is right here in this text —

idolatry, in other words, worshiping something

else besides the Lord or worshiping the

Lord in the wrong way. Going all the way

back to Genesis 20 and the first two

commandments, we find that idolatry can

involve the worship of false gods or it can

involve the worship of the true God in a

false way, or idolatry can be setting up idols

in our heart according to Ezekiel 14, verse 3.

Idolatry can be anything that's placed above

God according to verse 25 in our text.

Covetousness is idolatry, verse 29 and

Colossians 3:5, and we find that idolatry

leads to God's judgment and abandonment,

verses 29 through 32.
