Now, what does the phrase "God gave

them up" or "God gave them over" mean?

We have a sermon and an article on the

reprobate mind. But what does it mean in

verses 24, 26, and 28 when God says He

“gave them up” or “gave them over”? Well,

this is God's judgment, His judicial act in

declaring them guilty. Now, how did they

get to this point? They gave up on God

before God ever gave up on them. They

abandoned God before God abandoned

them. So for God to give someone up — a

nation or an individual — it means that

they're abandoned by God. They are left to

their own depravity. Now, think about that.

God's restraints are just taken away and

they're condemned, and there's no more
