hearts against its reproofs (Heb. 3:7-8), but

we're to respond with faith and obedience.

In fact, it's a serious matter to harden our

hearts to the reproofs of God's Word.

Proverbs 29:1 warns, "He, that being often

reproved hardeneth his neck, shall suddenly

be destroyed, and that without remedy."

Sadly, society, parents, and many churches

alike are contributing to the hardening of

hearts and an insensitive conscience by a

disregard for any serious consequences for

disobedience or for breaking rules. Even at

a very young age, an insensitivity to the

serious consequences for disobedience is

subliminally impressed upon children by a

laxity of parental discipline. Also, God’s holy
