to turn from sin. I know now that this Godly

sorrow which led to my repentance was a

work of the Holy Spirit. Second Corinthians

7:10 tells us that “godly sorrow worketh

repentance to salvation.” And when I

repented of my sins, I remember thinking

that I didn’t want to be a hypocrite in my

representation of Christianity as many who

I knew who claimed to be Christians.

But it wasn’t long after my conversion and

after getting involved in church life that I

realized that not everyone involved in my

church who had heard the preaching of the

cross and God’s provision for forgiveness of

sins had responded with “repentance toward

God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ”
