Treasurer’s Report 2008

                                                         John Scott

Compared to 2007, our Club is happy to be in a similar situation financially. Over the last
few years we have had to spend much money on necessary items such as transport and
medical equipment. This year our expenditure has been primarily focused on our players. We
paid for private sports insurance cover for all our players this year, a first for a sporting club
in this area. For this to continue we have to be very active with fundraising. Raffles and
sponsorship are absolutely necessary for this to happen. Our Club also financed a certain
amount of money to be used for the end of the season trip along with numerous raffles.

Once again the Xmas Wheelbarrow Raffle raised $5,300 during Nov, Dec that helped kick
start 2008. This has been by far our best fundraiser over a number of years, a brainchild of
              former President Brian Ricketts.

Once again the Old Bar Beach Rugby Club received generous financial support from Club
Old Bar, our Major Sponsor while private sponsors have made it possible for our Club to be
in a good sound position. We thank all our sponsors for their valued support and look
forward to a continued strong relationship.

I would also like to thank those dedicated members who roll up every Tuesday to run the
Bar Trivia. Without their support, Club Old Bar certainly wouldn’t be as generous with our
sponsorship. Remember, we need helpers to assist our weekly Trivia competition.

While The Old Bar Idol was a fantastic success and Crooksy secured much sponsorship for
this event, our Club didn’t benefit financially from it .The prime purpose of this event was to
offer something back to Club Old Bar as a part of our sponsorship deal with them. Not only
did we excel in that area we also were able to donate $1200 to a local charity ‘Camp
Memories’ from a gold coin donation. Well done.
Once again we are looking to make a few dollars at The Old Bar Festival. Our Club is
                                                                  th
                                                            th
organising a Rugby 10’s Comp on October 4 & 5 where both our vans will be operating at
              full blast. Any volunteers ????????????
Our players personal sponsorship agreement worked very well this year. Sponsors pay $200
per player and both the player and sponsor benefit from this arrangement. The players fees
are covered somewhat and the sponsor receives invaluable advertising.
I would like to thank all those who contributed in any way towards making the Club a
              financial success.

Wishing the Clams fantastic success in 2009

              John Scott Treasurer
