FOUND A DEAD GIRL'S BODY
Living in a small and dull town in the Midwest was quite boring. That never bothered me
much; I used to like the isolation and privacy . The best part was that the late-breaking
violent stories would never involve us. I lived about a couple of minutes away from a large
open field where I could easily walk for about 15 minutes without ever happening to lay a
single foot on concrete.
I was taking my cute dog Jeffery for a walk across the field around 10 as I usually did.
But this morning, as soon as I went through the fence gate, something happened that
caught my eye. About 15 metres to the right of the entry gate was an old fishing pit that
was surrounded by overgrown bushes with barbed wires .
I heard something rustling from the undergrowth and hence, I stopped to investigate.
As I noticed an outline of a man standing under the tree staring at me, my heart skipped
a beat. I decided to continue walking my dog as if I hadn’t seen anything. My puzzled
brain kept forcing me to look back . But I just went on. After 15 minutes I finished my
daily loop and my eye caught a tall man arising from the overgrown bushes of the fishing
pit. It was hard to identify the man but I can assure you that he was around 30 years old
and he held a grimace on his face. I made sure to keep my distance so I played fetch with
my dog.
After a couple of minutes, the coast was clear so I called my dog and tied his leash
back.We started heading back but suddenly my dog, Jeffery, started pulling towards the
bushes where I had first seen the man.“Jeffery, come back”, I yelled. Yet, he disobeyed.
The mighty form of me kicked in so I went to check.
I saw a girl lying there with bruises all over her body and her toenails
cut and stuffed in her mouth. I could see that her earrings had
been forcefully pulled out. Her nose was dislocated and one of
her eyes was missing. There were lacerations on her wrist.
Fresh blood was oozing from the gash in her neck.
After calling the police, I waited for about 7 minutes
but it felt like a lifetime. The police interrogated
me. After helping keep the body in the ambulance,
I headed off.
Just fifteen metres away, my eye caught the rear
view mirror of the ambulance, and there it was,
the same face smirking at me.
