A brief biographical note: Rabbi Chaim Walkin was
born in Shanghai and is an alumnae of Telze Yeshiva in
Cleveland. He moved to Israel after his marriage to learn in
the Mirrer Yeshiva under Rav Chaim Shmulevitz. Following
a brief stint teaching Gemara in Aish Hatorah, Rabbi Walkin
was the Mashgiach in Yeshivat Ohr Yisrael in Petach Tikva,
and subsequently for thirty three years as the Mashgiach
Ruchani in Yeshivat Ateret Yisrael in Bayit Vegan.
Rabbi Walkin imbibed the teachings and the ways of the
Chafetz Chayim from his parents who experienced life first-
hand living with the Chafetz Chayim, from his father Rabbi
Shmuel David Walkin who was a student of the Chafetz
Chayim in the Radin Yeshiva learning under the Chafetz Rabbi Moshe Londinsky Z”L. To his left is the Gaon Rabbi Aharon
Chayim, and from his mother Rebbetzin Tzivia who lived with Walkin ZTV”L, and seated to his right is Rabbi Shmuel David Walkin
her grandfather Rabbi Moshe Londinsky who was the Rosh Z”L, Rabbi Chaim Walkin’s father.
Yeshivat Radin under the Chafetz Chayim. In his sefer Da’at
Chaim, Rabbi Walkin’s emphasis is on Bein Adam L'Chaveiro
as the Torah’s ultimate value in Avodat Hashem. He resides Rabbi Walkin was born into the Mir community during their stay in
with his Rebbetzin in Bayit Vegan, Jerusalem. Shanghai after the war, and lived briefly in the United States. He lives
in Jerusalem’s Bayit VeGan and for many years was the Mashgiach in
Yeshivat Ateret Yisrael.
