Will the Real Christians Stand Up Will the Real Christians Stand Up
The Young Ladies Graduate
Katey Anderson sat in the auditorium engulfed in deep
thought. It was finally here, she said to herself. The moment of
truth, the stepping stone to the real world. This is what Hope
to the World High School had been preparing us for after 12
memorable years. Through the good, bad, idiotic, fun, and
change. It was finally time. Time to step out into that bright
light, shake the hand of an administrator, and grab the ticket
to freedom. The piece of paper that would remind us forever
that we’ve accomplished something. She turned her atten-
tion to the stage as the microphone gave an eerie screech.
Mr. Hoscabal adjusted his tie and stepped away from
the microphone. He handed the list of graduates to one of
the administrators and returned to the podium.
“We are so proud of our 2021 graduates but sad to say
that our seniors will no longer be with us,” Mr. Hoscabal said as
he stood at the podium in the auditorium where graduation
was being held. “Give our graduates a hand, will you.”
Everyone applauded. “We have 77 seniors here today
ready to be let out into the world; 77 seniors who will be tru-
ly missed. Before we begin calling graduates to the stage, I
would first like to admonish them. This year has been a trying
year, but by the grace of God, we made it through. I can
honestly say that the 15 years that I have been principal here
at Hope to the World High, this has been my best graduat-
ing class thus far,” he said, acknowledging the 2021 gradu-
ates with a smile. We’ve laughed, cried, and endured pain
together, and through it all, my faith has been made stron-
ger in God. This school year I have seen miracles take place,
prayer changing lives, and seen bold determination spark the
heart of this nation. So without further ado, I would like to say
a prayer.”
