leaving behind some terrific friends. Man, I wish school went up
to grade 13,” she said as the audience laughed. “I’ve been
attending Hope to the World for 12 years, and I can’t see my-
self going anywhere else. I wish that we had a college; that
would be the coolest thing.
The students laughed.
“I love each and every one of you and know that each
of you played a major part in my life. Mom, Dad, I love you.
God bless,” Adriana said as she turned over the microphone
to Katey Anderson.
As Katey moved over, positioning herself in front of the
podium, she stood there for a moment teary eyed. She softly
wiped her eyes. “I wish there was a grade 13 too.”
The audience chuckled.
“You’re not supposed to laugh,” Katey said with a smile,
“I guess I’m torn between the two also. There’s a part of me
that is ready for the destiny that’s ahead. Katey gathered her-
self then continued speaking. There are new heights to climb,
new souls to win over to Christ, new friends to make, and won-
derful people behind who I’ll cross paths with again. I’ve been
a student here since the first grade. “
“My word I leave to my graduating class is to keep Jesus
as the head and center of your life. I’ve heard of those who
attended college and lost their way because of peer pressure
from people and things. They lost their faith along the way;
please don’t let that be the case for you. Then I have heard
of those who shine bright for Jesus and found a way through
all the misguided temptations. They encourage and influence
others to surrender their hearts to Jesus. So, my question to you
is, which path will you take? My advice is simple, make up in
your mind to be the shining light in the darkness. To my mom
and dad and siblings, I love you so much. I know there were
