Will the Real Christians Stand Up
As the crowd settled down, some started to stand to
their feet while others remained seated. Principal Hoscabal
began to pray.
“Father, in the name of Jesus, you’re so awesome. Your
mercy and grace endureth through all generations, and your
love and kindness is better than life. Jesus we thank you so
much for this awesome day. I thank you for allowing me the
privilege to stand here today and call upon your name. Fa-
ther, we thank you for this graduating class. I pray that you
lead, guide, and direct their destiny from here. Please keep
your hands of protection on them. In your son Jesus’ name, I
ask and pray, amen.
The room said amen in unison. The graduates and stu-
dents whispered and talked among themselves. They had
never heard their principal pray in public. Principal Hoscabal
smiled as he continued speaking.
“I see you all didn’t think that I knew how to offer a prayer
up to God. Oh ye of little faith students,” he said with a laugh.
The audience laughed along with him. “The next voice you
will hear is that of vice principal Adonnia Jones.”
The names of the 2021 graduates were called in alpha-
betical order. When the last name was called Vice Principal,
then said, “Let’s give it up for our 2021 Hope to the Word High
School graduates!”
Parents, friends, family, teachers, staff, and all the rad-
uates cheered, applauded, and congratulated one another.
Samaria, Katey, and Adriana made their way to the podium
as the crowd simmered down. When all was quiet, Adriana
spoke first.
“It’s an exhilarating day for me, yet, it’s also a very emo-
tional day for me as well. I’m excited because I’m about to
embark on a new journey and start my own chapters in my life.
New friends to meet, new paths to cross, and new adventures
